Vintage Beds

The Melbourne cold weather just makes me want to stay in bed and not get up until the sun returns.  Which got me thinking about beds, which of course, got me thinking about children's beds, which got me writing this post.

So many of my client's come to me when their toddler is ready to move from their cot to either a toddler bed, single bed or king size bed, so i am always on the look out for beds.

Today i wanted to share 3 of my favorite Vintage Beds.

The Peacock Bed (not sure if that's the official name) is making a huge comeback.  I love the ornate details of the bedhead, the shapes and patterns.  It's more suited to a girls room as it is quite feminine.  It is perfect for a little girl, but if you add rich linens and velvet cushions, is great for a boho teenager.  Although i love the natural bedhead, it's very easy to spray paint if you are wanting another color or if you would like to brighten the room.

I am sure you are all familiar with the Vintage Cast Iron bed.  This bed is a winner as it's unisex, classic, and looks great. It comes in many styles, and whilst some are simply designed, others like the one below are more detailed.

For the boys, i really love the hospital bed style.  I don't like the name, so i think i will change it now to the vintage minimalist bed.   I like that they are simplistic in their design, understated yet i still find them interesting.  I know they are not everyone's cup of tea, but if you are like me and love the industrial look, then i am sure you will be smitten like me.

Now, i am off to bed...  Good night .....
